Arbor Day 2009

In celebration of Arbor Day this year the JHS Green Club planted a tree in front of the main entrance to the High School. Special thanks are extended to Goderies Tree Farm who donated the tree.

Zoo Visit Postponed

The planned visit to see our adopted turtle at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo has been postponed. We need to do more fundraising so that we can get a bus out there. Hopefully the trip will go ahead in the spring sometime after the snow melts.

In the mean time… the next event will be a joint trail clean-up hike up Kane Mtn with Student Council on Sat 24th October, followed by an Environmental Movie Night in November.

Paper Recycling

Sign up now in the library for paper recycling during October. As a Green Club member you are expected to do at least one day per month.

Green Club Adopts a Turtle!

The Green Club members are now the adoptive parents of a Yellow-Spotted Amazon River Turtle. Our turtle lives at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse (see link on right).

We have an info sheet in the library if you want to read all about our turtle.
Or click here for some general Yellow-spotted Amazon River Turtle information.

We will be going to visit our turtle some time this year so watch this space for updates.

Welcome

Welcome to the new Green Club blog.

This is where you need to make frequent visits so that you can see what’s going on with environmental advocacy from the Johnstown High School Green Club members.

School is out for this year so the next event will be a promotional display at the Freshmen Orientation night at the High School on Wednesday 27th August @ 7pm. Hope to see you there.

Officers: Meet at 5:30pm in the library for a planning meeting
